What to Expect from an Outdoor Family Photography Session!

What does an outdoor session look like?

Every photographer has a unique way of doing their outdoor family photography sessions; for families, for me, it is about the fun!

The goal is for your session is to take a lifestyle photography approach. Which is capturing you tell stories to each other, run, hugs and son now! This captures the true spirit and emotion of your family.

There will be some lightly posed images, but most of the gallery will be your family’s being their true self. I am not looking for perfection, but the best moment is the little ones that my lens captures while you are not looking. What can you expect instead? Let's talk about it!

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IS UP TO 60 IMAGES FROM AN OUTDOOR FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION.

So, we all are parents, and we know sometimes our kids, mine included, don’t always act like angels. Honestly, I like it when they don’t. Hear me out typically, they don’t do what you say, but they might do what I say. Don’t stress, Mamas. However, in a session with kids five and under are very unpredictable. Sometimes a 2 year old will NOT look at the camera for one posed picture. This is OKAY! Let's put it this way I am 44 in a few weeks, and i still remember my yearly photo session. This is one of the reasons I became a photographer. So when you look back at that family photo, you will laugh and remember how challenging (and adorable) that age was. Like I think of my now!

THE POSED IMAGES I AM LOOKING FOR

  • I. SOME POSED IMAGES WITH EVERYONE LOOKING.

  • II. PHOTOS OF EACH PARENT WITH EACH CHILD.

  • III. PHOTOS OF SIBLINGS TOGETHER.

  • III. PHOTOS OF YOUR FAMILY ON THE GROUND.

  • IV. CLOSE UP INDIVIDUAL PORTRAITS OF YOUR KIDS.

  • V. SERIOUS PICTURES (if we can)

  • VI. CLOSENESS

OUTDOOR SESSION, WHO IS IT FOR, WHAT IS THE BEST TIME!

WHO: Your family, beloved pets, + sometimes extended family too!
WHEN: Any time of year around sunrise or sunset for outdoor sessions + midday for home sessions
WHERE: Any outdoor location in SOUTH FLORIDA, please note some locations have fees.

What to ware?

Plan on at one or if you would like three different outfits for your shot to give yourself a good variety of looks.

If you have chosen to wear more than one outfit we suggest two different types of outfits or more. We will have you start out in a more formal look. I suggest going a little dressier (ONLY IF it fits in your personality). A dress (summer dress or cocktail dress) with heels and accessories and the guys in slacks or khakis (something dressier than jeans) and a dressier button-down shirt with a blazer, have the kids match mom and dad.

For the second outfit, casual For the ladies, we suggest dressy jeans, heels, and a nice blouse you might go to dinner is paired with nice jeans and a button-down dress shirt for the guys. As long as your colors coordinate with each other, they’ll be fine.

Be sure your clothes are ironed and lint-free. Opt for form-fitting styles and heels vs. a loose fit and flats for the most photographically flattering figure for females.

I highly recommend using a professional makeup artist to look your absolute best. Your hair should be worn down as you would normally wear it for a nice night out. Be sure to bring a brush and some hairspray in case it’s a little windy.

Also to keep it easier I suggest dad and the kids get dressed at the location, this makes moms life much easier and less stress. Remember once you are at the session don't worry.

Weather

Because our sessions could be outdoors and our goal is to provide the best and most unique experience possible, we are limited in regards to the weather.

Be prepared if there is more than a 50% chance for inclement weather or if it is calling for heat in excess of 95 degrees or as cold as 40 degrees in the winter.

"I'm so excited to share in your life journey with you and your family. My work is truly my passion, and I can't wait to meet you so that I can share it with you!"

Now it's your turn to tell me your story. Are you excited?

Well, don't wait! I would love to hear all about it: what do you envision for your next shoot?
